Mykonos

It was a five hour ferry ride before we finally got to the port in Mykonos. It is by all definitions a bit of a tourist trap. There were two massive cruise ships anchored offshore. I can at least be thankful I was not on one of those. According to the folks, the cruise ship itineraries are a bit rushed. Many have just 4 to 5 hours here in Mykonos. Granted the town isn't all that large, but the streets are quite narrow; so if you get stuck behind someone slow, it could take hours just to go a few blocks.

At first, I wasn't too impressed. This was primarily because of the overcast clouds and cold temps that made this "resort" island seem a bit underwhelming. We are here during the offseason and it seems plenty busy considering. I hate to imagine what it looks like in July.
After walking around for a little bit, we grabbed some lunch in an area of town called little Venice. Shorty after heading out again, the sun started poking through the clouds. In one direction, the sky became completely clear, like the picture at the top. But, turn around, and things looked quite ominous.

I thought it created a pretty nice effect, though. As you can see, I do have Internet here, but it's ungodly slow. The Greeks don't seem to require high speeds I guess. Perhaps this is why their economy is suffering. Waiting 5 minutes for a web page to load is bad for productivity. I'm not sure what we are doing for the rest of the evening. Tomorrow, we are taking a boat just offshore to the island of Delos to check out some ruins. Then we will be back on Mykonos for the rest of the day. Kalimera and all that.
