Hellas Good

Well it has been quite some time, dear reader.  Have you been going into Pepto Bismol withdrawal?  I certainly have.  It was about a year ago that I went to Vietnam and Cambodia with a ginger.  As you may have noticed, the banner above has changed to reflect an update to my travels.  I am now going on a trip to (drumroll) . . . Greece! with (drumroll) . . . my parents!  See image below.

This image from Savannah, GA in the winter of '09 was the last time I was on a trip with just the folks.
We all know if they had spent two weeks in Greece by themselves, they would just get bored and wish they had brought me anyway, so I'm just making things easier.  Of course, we will be spending some time in Athens, Delphi, and Olympia, but we will also be heading off to Mykonos, Santorini, and Crete.  Our general route of travel is depicted below.
I have attempted to cross-check the hotels and it looks like I will have a Wi-Fi connection at least half of the nights throughout the trip.  This will enable me to use my phone as . . . a phone.  If you receive a call from me, it won't indicate my number, however.  It will probably show some other Los Angeles, San Diego, or Phoenix area code.  So, if you see an unknown number, answer it, unless you've been receiving a lot of calls about winning a free cruise, and if you press "1" you can find out how to lower your interest rates.

Some of the the hotels offer "free internet," but it is likely a computer in the lobby from 1998 using a GOL dialup connection.  (I assume they didn't have AOL over there, but what do I know).  If this is the case, I will be able to update the blog, but there will be no pictures/videos.  :(  This also means no phone calls.  I do know, for sure, that there will be a free Wi-Fi connection for some nights.  For those nights that are up in air, I am not expecting much.  We were spoiled with technology in Vietnam.  Ironically, now that I'm going to a more modern and developed country, Wi-Fi is more of a luxury.  But who knows . . . maybe the restaurant across the street will have an unprotected network that I can join.  I will do my best to update whenever possible.  T-Minus 37 days!
